Manufacturers are only able to put together more and more threads in per square inch is by thinning the threads, and we know that a thinner thread means less durable. Therefore the higher the thread count the less durable the sheets are.

Then you may ask, what is a good thread count for sheets? It depends if you like your sheets snappy, crisp or stiff. Really? Snappy, crisp or stiff?

Well if that’s not your thing and simply want most comfortable bed sheets then go for cotton sheets with 300 – 400 thread count. Sounds crazy, I know. It’s because cotton sheets have higher thread thickness and it’s not easy to add more and more threads in per square inch. These sheets not only last longer but they get better with every wash.
